An art book targeting foreigners whom are unfamiliar with Japanese social etiquette. it contains a selection of 12 handmade paintings depicting the foreigner experiencing different social situations. the book is both educational as well as a collectable piece for those whom are interested in art.
Packaging & cover.
Two different types of white Japanese paper were used for the packaging, folded in a Japanese envelope to seal the book. The contrast between the white envelope and the black hardcover maintains an elegant, simple yet striking Japanese aesthetic.
The dimensions of the book is inspired by Japanese woodblocks. After some observation, I noticed that these woodblocks would be dramatically wide when portraying a scenery. Or dramatically long when portraying people. And since this book is focusing on people, I went with the latter format.
